Gnome-Voice-Control on Debian Squeeze
Written by edmond in Applications , Commands & Shell , Debian , Gnome , Gnome-voice-control , Gnu-Linux , Tips & Tricks , Multimedia-Tv Gnome-Voice-Control is an applet in Gnome used to give some voice commands. The words you recognize are not many, but worth it. I have tried both with Squeeze it on Sid, and illustrate the two methods I've experimented with mixed fortunes
.
First method tested on Squeeze / Sid (regurgitate)
I go a bit in memory with the dependencies, in case check:
# Apt-get install libwnck-dev dev-libatspi libstartup-dev libtool intltool-notification0 libsphinx2g0 sphinx2-hmm-6k
and then download and install gnome-voice-control:
after that go to the panel gnome-panel-add to VoiceControl.
Second method tested on Sid (a problem exists):
# Apt-get install libwnck-3-dev libgnomeui libwnck-dev libpanel-applet2 libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev libwnck-dev dev-libatspi libatspi-dev intltool bison
sphinxbase download:
$ Wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/cmusphinx/files/sphinxbase/0.7/sphinxbase-0.7.tar.gz
$ Tar xvfz sphinxbase-0.7.tar.gz
$ Cd sphinxbase-0.7
$. / Configure
$ Make
# Make install
pocketsphinx download:
$ Wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/cmusphinx/files/pocketsphinx/0.7/pocketsphinx-0.7.tar.gz
$ Tar xvfz pocketsphinx-0.7.tar.gz
$ Cd pocketsphinx-0.7
$. / Configure
$ Make
# Make install
download gnome-voice-control:
$ Wget http://download.berlios.de/festlang/gnome-voice-control-0.4.tar.gz
$ Tar xvfz gnome-voice-control-0.4.tar.gz
$ Cd gnome-voice-control-0.4
$. / Configure
$ Make
# Make install
# Ln-s / usr / local / lib / bonobo / servers / GNOME_VoiceControlApplet_Factory.server / usr / lib / bonobo / servers /
check if everything went well with:
$ Pocketsphinx_continuous
$ / Usr / local / libexec / voice_control_applet
now add the applet ControlloVocale which is located in the panel-aggiungi_al_pannello.
Controls:
The control functions to windows That we are implented:
- TERMINAL RUN: open default terminal
- RUN BROWSER: open default web browser
- MAIL RUN: Open Evolution
- RUN TEXT EDITOR: open GEdit
- CLOSE WINDOW

Mouse and keyboard control should work too:
